MFF U-13 Girls’ Tournament 2019 launched in Yangon

THE opening ceremony of the MFF U-13 Girls’ Tournament 2019, organized by the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF), was held on the grounds of the National Football Academy in Yangon yesterday.

The opening ceremony for the tourney was attended by Deputy Director-General of the Physical Education Department of the Ministry of Health and Sports, U Kyaw Oo, General Secretary of the Myanmar Football Federation, U Ko Ko Thein, and Headmaster of the Sports and Physical Education Department of Yangon, U Soe Aung.

As part of the opening of the tourney, the Ayeyawady Region team played against the Rakhine State team during the opening match.

The match concluded with the Ayeyawady Region team defeating Rakhine State team 13-0.

Next, the Northern Shan State team played against the Mandalay Region team in the second match, which saw the Northern Shan State team beat Mandalay Region team 1-0.

In other matches, the Nay Pyi Taw team beat Chin State team 1-0 and Eastern Shan State played to a 2-2 draw against the Southern Shan State team.

The tourney was comprised of 17 participating teams, which were placed in six groups from Group A to F.

The group stage matches for the tourney will be held from 20 to 26 July, with four matches scheduled per day.

The best teams from the six groups will advance to the next stage, officials stated.

The quarter finals will be held on 28 July and the semifinals on 30 July. The final match will be held on 1 August.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
