MIFER, ASEAN Secretariat jointly conduct ASEAN project development training

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Rela­tions Dr Kan Zaw delivered an opening address at the ASEAN Project Development Training which was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and ASEAN Secretariat under ASEAN Development Fund on 20 February 2024 at the Hotel Aureum Palace, Nay Pyi Taw with 100 officials and trainees in attendance.

 

In the opening remarks, the Union Minister highlighted the importance of ASEAN Free Trade in global trade, consider­ation of new issues in response to digitalization and renewa­ble energy in Free Trade Areas Negotiations, requirements of awareness and technical assis­tance especially for Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar for un­derstanding these new issues, and the importance of learn­ing for project proposal writing mechanism from the training. In addition, the Union Minis­ter urged the participants to write project proposals that are required in respective fields, based on experience from the training.

 

The training will last from 20 to 22 February 2024. The technical experts from the ASEAN Secretariat will give lectures on overview of the ASEAN cooperation projects, the ASEAN project proposal template, formulating Project results in the proposal mate­rials and the work plan for the implementation. During the training, the participants will get hand-on experience for de­veloping project proposals.

 

The ministries related to the ASEAN Economic Pillar participate in the implemen­tation and negotiations of the ASEAN Free Trade Agree­ments and ASEAN Plus One Free Trade Agreements. New areas such as trade and labour, trade and environment are in­troduced in upgrading Free Trade Agreements and new Free Trade Agreement nego­tiations. Therefore, the knowl­edge gained from this training programme will support the participants in writing project proposals that required for My­anmar and implementing the projects systematically. — MNA
