Ministries hold coordination meeting online to organize celebrations for centenary of Yangon University

The Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Education held a coordination meeting via videoconferencing yesterday to organize the celebrations for 100th anniversary of Yangon University.


At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Pe Myint discussed plans of his office to take part in celebrations of the anniversary, production of TV programmes, plans of the News and Periodicals Enterprise, and activities of Information and Public Relations Department.


He offered contributions of MoI to cooperate with the MoE.


Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi explained plans for organizing the centenary of Yangon University which was first established on 1 December 1920, and he sought advice for the event in line with containment measures against COVID-19.


Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun and Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun presented their suggestions on the event.


Director-General U Ye Naing from MRTV and Director-General Dr Thein Win from Department of Higher Education reported the programmes for the event.


Rector of Yangon University Dr Phoe Kaung and Acting Director-General from IPRD U Aye Kywe presented organizing contests for novels, poems, articles and cartoons to mark the centenary event.


Union Ministers Dr Pe Myint and Dr Myo Thein Gyi made concluding remarks after discussions of officials from the two ministries.
