UNION Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, who is also National Disas­ter Management Commit­tee Vice-Chair 1, comforted the flood-stricken people in Toungoo District yes­terday.

 

The Union minister first inspected the clean­ing measures and provided foodstuffs to the flood vic­tims at a temporary relief camp within Bodawgon Monastery in Yedashe township.

He also observed the flooded mileposts 162/7 of Yedashe Toungoo road sec­tion on the Yangon-Man­dalay highway, and gave proper instructions on how to place road signs and danger signs and facilitate the flow of goods.

 

He then proceeded to the disaster manage­ment office established at Sasanahitakari Beikman in Toungoo, temporary relief camps at Oakkyut 1 post-primary school in Ward 10 and Shwegugyi Pagoda in Ward 1.

 

During the inspection tours, the Union minister donated basic foodstuffs and family utensils for 685 people of 191 households.

 

The Ayeyawady Foun­dation donated 1,000 rice bags, K50 million from Pwint Htoo San Compa­ny, K10 million from U Sai Mon (Mone Wun Myan­mar) family and K7 million from the entrepreneurs from Bago and Thanetpin townships.
