MoHT, MoHS collaborate on tourism development

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, U Ohn Maung, inspected the preparations for ASEAN Food Festival 2019 in Mandalay on 2 August.

The Union Minister gave instructions to ensure the traditional cuisine is healthy and up to international standards, and the exhibition booths are organized efficiently.

Next, the Union Minister visited the classroom of the foundation course for Japanese language level N5 opened at the Bagan Information Training Center, with assistance from the ministry, at the old city of Bagan.

The course is conducted for 12 weeks from 22 July to 11 October and currently has 41 trainees from travel agencies in Bagan and tourism police offices.

Later in the evening, the Union Minister attended the conference on the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism’s digital marketing, held at Tharapar Hotel in Bagan, together with the Union Minister for Health and Sports, Dr Myint Htwe.

Speaking at the event, U Ohn Maung said all travel organizations need to cooperate with the ministry to develop both the travel industry in Bagan and the hotels and tourism industry across the nation.

He said they have formed subnational tourism committees and are working towards decentralization of the regional travel industry. He said they are utilizing digital marketing to promote the industry and encouraged all affiliated organizations to partake in the ministry’s projects.

Dr Myint Htwe also delivered an address where he said it is important to aim for sustainability systematic order in the development process. He said it is necessary to ensure health protection and hygienic food to foreign travellers entering the nation. He invited relevant organizations to cooperate with the two ministries to promote sport tourism.
