MoI holds meeting on news coverage of third Hluttaw sessions, discusses cooperation with ASIA Foundation

The Ministry of Information yesterday held a coordination meeting over media coverage of the third Hluttaw sessions.


During the meeting, Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint said that the state-run media already have experiences of covering parliamentary news. The Union Minister called on the participants to apply their past experiences to provide better news coverage of the third Hluttaw sessions, which will commence on 1 February. He said that the media officials need to make effective arrangements in order to ensure that broadcasts are not defective. He stressed that it is important to get high-quality news photos and to provide complete and accurate coverage.


He also called on the officials of the ministry to cooperate with Hluttaw officials in order for privately-owned media to effectively cover the parliamentary news too. During the meeting, the participants explained their roles in the process of media coverage.


The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun, Permanent Secretary- U Myo Myint Maung, Directors-General, the Managing Director, the Deputy Permanent Secretary and other relevant officials.


In the afternoon, the Union Minister received Asia Foundation Country Representative Mr Mark McDowell, and they discussed possible cooperation between the Asia Foundation and the Ministry of Information on Let’s Read Programme and Go Digital ASEAN Programme being implemented by the Asia Foundation.
