MoI, IMS, Fojo Media Institute sign extended MoU on media cooperation

Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Information, International Media Support – IMS, and Fojo Media Institute signed the existing extended Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on media cooperation yesterday at the Chatrium Hotel in Yangon.

 


The purpose of the MoU is to draw laws and policies in line with international standards, to help the media personnel work professionally, to provide access of information to men and women based on social media and to help them participate in public forum.

 


The existing MoU was signed by Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Information, the International Media Support (IMS) based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Fojo Media Institute, Kalmar, Sweden in 2013.

 


Director General U Ye Naing and IMS/Fojo programme manager Ms. Pernille Bo Kristensen signed a one-year extension of the MoU extended to March, 2020.

 


For the execution of the MoU on the cooperation of the media development, implementation processes were conducted for hold media development workshops, which aim at disseminating media and legal affairs for aiding ethnic language stations and for holding ethnic media conference.

 


In accordance with the extension of the MoU, implementation would be carried out to convene the media development conference, the ethnic media conference and discussion meeting of the four pillars. Moreover, plans are under way to conduct the multimedia training classes in cooperation with international organizations, as well as conducting the pilots projects for radio programme in some villages of Ayeyawady region and Chin State. —MNA (Translated by Win Ko Ko Aung)
