MoI organizes meeting on formation of television and broadcasting council

The Ministry of Information organized a meeting at its headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning to discuss the formation of a council for the development of national television and broadcast media.


The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint, Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung and other relevant officials.


During the meeting, Director-General of Myanma Radio and Television U Ye Naing and other officials reported on the Broadcasting Law, the Law Amended the Broadcasting Law and relevant rules.


They also discussed the establishment of the National Broadcasting Development Body and plans to form a selection council for the formation of the Broadcasting Council, powers and duties of the Council Election Committee, necessary qualifications for the council members, powers and duties of the Broadcasting Council and overseeing the spectrum allocation process.


Union Minister Dr Pe Myint and Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun called on the participants to set appropriate schedules to carry out relevant tasks in line with the existing Broadcasting Law and rules.


They also gave advice on drafting necessary policies and procedures, licencing applicants, licence renewal, licence suspension, licence revocation, developing codes of conduct and other related matters.
