Mongolia receives over 34,000 foreign tourists so far this year

Mongolia has received more than 34,000 foreign tourists so far this year, the country's Ministry of Environment and Tourism said on Monday.

Mongolia's tourism sector is seasonal as its climate is strongly continental, with long, frigid winters and short summers.

To eliminate the seasonality of the tourism sector, the Asian country has paid special attention to the development of winter tourism by organizing ice and snow events, the ministry said.

As part of the effort, 26 international and national events are planned until the end of April, it said.

In 2023, Mongolia welcomed over 650,000 foreign tourists and earned 1.2 billion U.S. dollars from tourism, hitting an all-time high.
