MoRAC DM-led delegation arrives back after 31st meeting of ASCC

The Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan attended the 31st Meeting of the ASE­AN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council organized by the ASEAN rotating Chairman­ship of Lao People’s Democrat­ic Republic held at Luang Pra­bang City from 23 to 26 March, and arrived back on 26 March evening.

 

The meeting was presided over by Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of LPDR Mrs Suanesavanh Vignaket and attended by members of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council, Timor Leste and relevant officials from ASEAN member states, ASEAN Secretary-General and deputy Secretary-General and officials.

 

During the first session of the meeting, they discussed the matters on the priorities to be implemented in 2024 by the host country of Lao PDR, the progress of drafting strategic plans of the ASEAN-Social-Cul­tural Community post-2025, the documents to be submitted at 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit, reports of the meetings, state­ments and the approval for the summarized record of the 31st ASEAN Socio-Cultural Com­munity Council.

 

During the second part of the meeting, the plenary ministerial meeting of the ASEAN social-cultural com­munity was held, and relevant sectoral issues of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community were discussed.

 

At the meeting, the deputy minister expressed her recom­mendation for the priorities of social and cultural measures to be implemented by Lao while taking responsibility for rotat­ing Chairmanship in 2024.

 

Together with the deputy minister, Senior official of ASE­AN Socio-Cultural Community Council Director-General of the Department of Historical Re­search and National Library and relevant officials attended the meeting.

 

The deputy minister and party also attended the launch­ing ceremony of ADME (ASE­AN Database for Monitoring and Evaluation System) in con­junction with the 31st meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council, a dinner hosted to commemorate the meeting and the Lao traditional songs and dances.

 

While they were in Luang Prabang City, the deputy min­ister and party, together with the representatives of ASEAN member countries, studied the alms-food offering event and visited Xieng Thong Temple, Luang Prabang National Muse­um and Tat Kuang Si Waterfall. —MNA/KTZH
