More tourists visiting new tourism destination of Ruby Land

With the opening of a new tourist destination in Mogok, Ruby Land in Mandalay Region, the number of local travelers and tourists has increased, said U San Yu, the Assistant Director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Mandalay).

Previously, tourists were not allowed to visit the Mogok Region. However, the Mandalay Region Government now permits tourists to visit Mogok Town, using the Mandalay-Madaya-Thabeikkyin route beginning in the third week of September, 2018, with an aim to develop the tourism sector.

Moreover, the regional government opened new tourist destinations, such as Kyauk Pya That, Pan Lin and Barned villages in February, 2019. Mogok town has long been famous for its gemstones, especially rubies and sapphires.

Mogok’s 800th anniversary was celebrated to promote tourism development. Due to the permission of the Mandalay regional government, local travellers can also visit Mogok Town, as well as some villages, to observe the natural resources and ethnic cultures.

Authorities are also making arrangements to open the natural waterfall. Currently, the number of tourists, as well as local travellers, has been increasingly visiting Mogok region.
