THE World MSME Day commemorative event continued at Myanmar International Convention Centre I (MICC-I) in Nay Pyi Taw on its second day yesterday with expert discussions focused on strengthening Myanmar’s small and medium-sized enterprises and their role in national economic growth.

Presentations covered topics including supporting MSMEs for economic development, future growth strategies, and the role of digital adoption in building Myanmar’s digital economy by 2030-2031.

At the closing ceremony in the evening, Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr Charlie Than said the event reflected Myanmar’s commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and strengthening international recognition of its policy direction.

He stressed the importance of digital transformation for modern MSMEs, highlighting a six-stage pathway: visible, trusted, paid, market-ready, delivered and growing.

The Union minister also outlined ongoing financial support measures, including low-interest, collateral-free MSME loans in cooperation with nine local insurers at a five per cent interest rate. He added that businesses could access global market information through the ASEAN Access online platform.

He further noted upcoming opportunities for exporters, including a 8 July training session on exporting to Germany and a China-ASEAN business matchmaking event scheduled for 15- 16 July.
