A total of 428 participants took part in a Mountain Bike (MTB) Novice Class cycling competition held from the Yangon Zoological Gardens to Hlawga Park, accord­ing to the Yangon Zoo.

 

The event, held on 29 March, was organized by the Htoo Zoos & Gardens Business Unit. All 428 contestants showed great spirit and determination, successfully reaching the finish line.

 

The first, second, third, fourth, and fifth winners of the competition were: Men’s MTB Novice Class – Maung Htet Ko Lin (No 221), Maung Phone Pyae Zaw (No 377), Maung Nay Min Arkar Kyaw (No 378), Maung Khant Min Htet (No 206), and Maung Lu Htoo Han (No 101); Women’s MTB Novice Class – Ma Hnin Thet Paing Soe (No 317), Ma Thae Su Aye (No 311), Ma Kay Thi Kyaw Thu Thant (No 414), Ma Khaing Myint Myat (No 341) and Ma Yi Yi Chein (No 302). Special prizes were also awarded to those who finished within the top 30, as well as veteran athletes over the age of 65.

 

Under the guidance of the Yangon Region government, the Forest Department, and the Department of Sports and Physical Education, this race was organized to produce new young cyclists, upgrade the cy­cling sports sector, raise public awareness for natural resources and promote green eco-tourism. — MT/ZN
