MYANMAR’S U22 team and Hong Kong’s U22 team played to a 0-0 draw in their first friendly match on 19 March at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yangon.
The match marked the Myanmar U22 team’s first international friendly under new coach Kurosaki, with many new players featuring in the squad. While the two sides were evenly matched in terms of physicality, Myanmar struggled with team coordination and lacked precision in attack. Despite several chances, including a missed opportunity off the crossbar, Hong Kong also failed to score.
Both teams made substitutions in the second half, but neither could break the deadlock. The Myanmar U22 team will face Hong Kong again at 4 pm on 22 March at Thuwunna Training Field 1 in a closed-door training match. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
