Myanmar, Chiang Rai discuss boosting trade and investments

U Min Kyaw Lin, Consul-Gen­eral of the Myanmar Con­sulate-General in Chiang Mai, met Mr Phutthiphong Sirimat, Governor of Chiang Rai District, on 21 June to bolster border trade and investments on Chiang Rai- Tachilek-Kengtung channel, according to the Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The Myanmar Con­sul-General discussed mat­ters regarding the Kengtung Highway being part of the No 2 Asia Highway, promotion of border trade and invest­ments, merchant partner­ships between two countries, and consular protection for Myanmar’s migrant workers in Chiang Rai in cooperation with the Chiang Rai district office.

 

The consul-general also visited Mae Sai and Thai­land-Myanmar Friendship Bridge I and Bridge II on 22 June and met Thailand’s immigration and customs officials, where he observed trade flow and border cross­ing situations. — ASH/KK
