Myanmar Comedians’ Association to hold fundraising event for senior comedians

The Myanmar Comedians’ Association (Yangon) will hold a fundraising event for the 14th time to donate cash assistance to senior comedians, according to comedian San Lin, a member of the association’s fundraising team.

The fundraising event is scheduled for 22 and 23 June at the Thiri Mingalar Monastery in Dagon Myothit (South) Township.

“We always pay respect to our seniors every year and we’re supporting them with kindness, especially for food and medical expenses. When some reach 60 years old, it’s like receiving a pension. So, we’ll donate cash and kind to them by organizing an event, as no one offers them Job,” said comedian Ko San Lin.

It is known that stunt actor Ko John, comedians San Lin, and Kyel Thee, Kyi Thar (Pwe Kyeik Khin), and dancer Wah Wah Khine will participate in the performances, which will be broadcast live from 9 am to 6 pm to raise funds.

In 2023, the Myanmar Comedians’ Association (Yangon) provided cash assistance to more than 70 senior comedians aged 65 and over. This year, over 150 senior comedians will receive cash assistance. It is reported that the 14th respect-paying ceremony will be held by the association at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II (MICC-II) in Nay Pyi Taw on 7 July 2024. — ASH/ TRKM
