Myanmar competes in martial arts competition at Asian Games

The XIX Asian Games, hosted by the People’s Republic of Chi­na continued in stadiums and gymnasiums in various cities.

 

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan who is also the Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Com­mittee, and officials from the governing body watched My­anmar’s Ma Aye Thitsar Myint competing in the Nang Chuan (hand-to-hand combat) and Nang Thaung (sword combat) competitions in the Wushu competition held at the Xia­oshan Guali Sports Centre in Hangzhou, China, yesterday at 10 am China Standard Time.

 

In the knockout match of the Taekwondo competition held at the Lin’an Sports Cul­ture & Exhibition Stadium in Lin’an City, Ma Moe Myint Myat of Myanmar lost to Thailand in the (-53 kilogrammes) category with a score of 0:12 in the first round and 2:13 in the second round.

 

Myanmar’s Sandi Oo will also compete in two events of Wushu today. — MNA/KZL
