Myanmar shipped over 87,800 tonnes of various fish to inter­national markets in the past four months of the current fi­nancial year 2024-2025, begin­ning 1 April, bagging US$98.48 million, according to the Fish­eries Department.

 

The value of fish exports through maritime trade was es­timated at $65.75 million, while exports through land borders amounted to $32.736 million.

 

Myanmar exports fishery products to Japan, European countries, China and Thai­land through maritime trade channels and also delivers fish, shrimp, prawn and other seafood to neighbouring coun­tries via land borders (Muse, Myawady, Kawthoung, Sittway, Myeik and Maungtaw).

 

More than 20 fish species, including hilsa, rohu, catfish, and seabass are shipped to foreign markets, according to the Myanmar Fisheries Fed­eration.

 

Myanmar exports fishery products to over 40 countries, mainly to Thailand and China. — NN/KK
