Myanmar and India agreed to further strengthen their longstanding bilateral relations and expand strategic cooperation across mutual areas of interest.

PRESIDENT of the Re­public of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, currently in India on an official visit, held talks with President of the Republic of India Smt Droupadi Murmu at the hall of the Presidential Residence yesterday after­noon.

 

The Indian President cor­dially welcomed President U Min Aung Hlaing and held talks.

 

At the talks, they frankly exchanged views on the polit­ical progress in Myanmar and full support of India for the de­velopment of Myanmar, imple­mentation of projects between the two countries, promotion of bilateral trade and investment, preservation of cultural herit­age between the two countries, measures in the tourism and women’s affairs sectors, and further enhancement of friend­ly ties and cooperation between the two countries.

 

The President signed the guests’ book of the Presidential Residence.

 

Present at the talks to­gether with the President were Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, Dr Kan Zaw, U Min Naung and Dr Charlie Than, members of the Myanmar delegation and the Myanmar Ambassador to India. The Indian President was accompanied by ministers of the Indian government and Indian Ambassador to Myan­mar Shri Abhay Thakur. — MNA/TTA
