Myanmar launches ‘Welcome Russia’ initiative in Moscow

The ‘Welcome Russia’ programme in Myanmar, which aims to invite more Russian tourists to Myanmar, was intro­duced by U Lwin Oo, Myanmar Ambassador to Russia at the 6th International Route Develop­ment Forum NETWORK 2023 in the Russian city of Moscow on 26 September, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The ambassador told the forum which was organized by the Centre for Strategic Devel­opment in Civil Aviation (Avia Centre) about the measures being implemented by related ministries in Myanmar.

 

In his presentation with the theme “Direct flight from Myanmar to Russia: Gateway to a new unique destination for Russian tourists”, the ambassador explained the maiden flight of Myanmar Airways International (MAI)’s Yangon-Mandalay-Novosibirsk route, the geographic location of Myanmar, prominent tourism destinations in Myanmar, Russian tourists’ privilege of visa exemption and op­portunities for tourism businesses in Myan­mar. — ASH/TH
