MYANMAR Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association (MFVP) notified avocado farm owners to cooperate in testing of six quarantine pests in October, in accordance with the GACC phytosanitary protocol for legal export to China. The Plant Protection Division, Department of Agriculture, is conducting pest inspections in avocado farms and providing technical protection methods.

Myanmar’s negotiation with the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China on signing the SPS Protocol Agreement for avocado export is progressing, MFVP stated.

“Efforts are underway for the SPS Protocol with the GACC for the legitimate export of Myanmar’s avocado to China. Upon signing the agreement, they discussed coordinating matters to ensure smooth trade during a five-day Myanmar fruit sectoral development and China (Yunnan Province) Business Cooperation Linkage Visit from 9 to 13 June in Yunnan, China. Next, Chinese investors are also seeking to invest in packing house facilities designed to fulfil international criteria. Consequently, invitations were extended to them. The detailed discussions are ongoing,” MFVP’s representative said.
