Myanmar migrant workers exiled from Thailand

Thai authorities deported six Myanmar migrant workers to Myanmar through Myanmar immigration officials at the No.2 Friendship Bridge in Tachilek, Eastern Shan State on 6 March.

The Myanmar undocumanted workers were detained for working and residing in Thailand illegally without proper documents. Myanmar officials from the General Administration Department, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Anti-Human Trafficking Police Force and the Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens (CNCMC), a Mai Sai-based welfare society helped the migrant workers return their homes in a safe and secure manner.
The number of Myanmar migrant workers who were expeled from Thailand from 1 January to 6 March totaled—250 men, 143 women and 17 children.—Sai Aung Zaw Lin (IPRD)
