The Myanmar National Airlines landed at Yangon International Airport at 3:20 pm with 121 nationals who were stranded in Hong Kong and Macau due to suspensions of flights to Myanmar amid the outbreak of COVID-19.
Moreover, the Korean Airlines took off from Incheon Airport with 180 Myanmar nationals—171 from Korea, 8 from Indonesia and 1 from the United States, and it landed in Yangon at 8 pm.
As they arrived in Yangon, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-days quarantine period in line with the regulations of immigration and medical checks.
As per the directives of National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and in coordination with other relevant ministries in Myanmar and the Myanmar embassies in respective countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged relief flights and chartered planes to bring back Myanmar people from foreign countries.
A total of 6,128 people have been repatriated to Myanmar to date as the government is taking preventive measures against COVID-19.
