MYANMAR’S foreign trade is expected to meet US$33 billion in the current financial year 2024-2025 beginning 1 April. The external trade has amounted to over $25.79 billion as of 12 March this FY, performing 78 per cent of the trade target so far, the vice-chair of the National Export Strategy Public-Private Export Promotion Committee said.
The committee held the 1/2025 meeting on 18 March 2025 at Office 3 of the Ministry of Commerce. The vice-chair addressed at the meeting that Myanmar’s foreign trade has attained over 25.79 billion as of 12 March 2025, reaching a target of 78 per cent.
The end of the current 2024- 2025 financial year is approaching so close. Therefore, he asked the related governmental and non-governmental institutions and exporters to coordinate matters to boost exports to double.
The chair of the committee emphasized quick-win procedures while implementing a sectoral plan of action. He also highlighted the need to govern budget planning. After the 2020-2025 National Export Strategy period, he asked officials concerned to conduct plans to be adapted to current situations and amend projects for the next five-year National Export Strategy (2026-2030). Afterwards, committee members, representatives from private organizations and chairpersons of the respective committees discussed performances, plans of the various sectors, and public-private partnership plans for export promotion.
