Myanmar U-16 football team resumes training for Asian Cup U-17 qualifier, MNL U-20 Tournament

Myanmar U-16 boys’ team resumed its training on 1 July to take part in domestic and international tourna­ments this year.

 

The team started training after the 2024 AFF U-16 Championship held in Indonesia. The squad formed with 30 players is under training at the camp.

 

The U-16 team with the title of Junior Lion FC will take part in the MNL U-20 Tournament. The squad secured two wins in two games at the MNL U-20 Tournament. The com­petition will continue in the first leg matches.

 

 

This year, the Myanmar U-16 team will compete in the 2025 Asian Cup U-17 qualifier as the second inter­national match to be held in coming October. So, the players are taking training for both tournaments.

 

Myanmar U-16 was included in the same group as Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei in the AFF U-16 Cham­pionship held in June. The squad dropped out of the competition with one win and two losses.

 

Head Coach Japanese national Mitami is handling the Myanmar U-16 and giving training to existing players. — Ko Nyi Lay/TTA
