Myanmar volleyball team leaves for 32nd Southeast Asian Games’ joint training in China

In order to further improve the quality and skills of the athletes who will represent Myanmar in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs will conduct joint training in the People’s Republic of China under the G-to-G plan.

 

The team includes a total of 38 players including elite play­ers from the national team, 18 new generation players, and 15 female players and five coaches and administrators headed the team.

 

The women’s team will enter and compete in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games to gain a level of experience.

 

The national team will com­pete against Thailand, Indone­sia, and Viet Nam in the SEA Games. We are expecting to get medals. Therefore, they have to go to the People’s Republic of China for three months of joint training.

 

Myanmar volleyball team won one gold medal in the past and one silver medal in 1995, and one bronze medal in 2009, said head coach U Kyaw Soe Aung.

 

The men’s and women’s volleyball teams were greeted by the Deputy Director Gener­al of the Department of Sports and Physical Education U Kyaw Oo and the directors and the vice-president of the Myanmar Volleyball Federation.

 

According to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, teams of wushu, athletics, and Myan­mar boxing will continue to go to the People’s Republic of Chi­na for joint training under the G-to-G plan. — Bala Soe/GNLM
