Myanmar women’s football team defeats Old Star men’s team 1-0 in friendly

THE Myanmar national women’s football team beat the local club of Taunggyi, Old Star men’s football team, 1-0 in their friendly match played at the Taunggyi Stadium yesterday.

The match was supervised by Myanmar Football Federation and mainly sponsored by Myanmar Brewery Ltd.

As the match was a friendly match, there was set a 60 minute maximum play for the entire match.

As the match was a special one, with a women’s team competing against men footballers, the match became a thriller.

The Myanmar national women’s football team launched an open attack from the start, and the men’s football team relied on a counter attack.

The winning goal for Myanmar was scored by veteran player San Thaw Thaw.

The friendly match was also set as an entertaining match, before holding the final match for the We Are One Cup to be played between Thunanda Khantan team and Kandaya Wadi team, which was also held at the same venue in Taunggyi.

The final match saw the Thunanda Khantan team winning over Kandaya Wadi 2-1.

The friendly match for the national women’s football team was aimed to help the national women’s team to promote themselves among their fans across Myanmar, officials said.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
