Myanmar’s Foreign Minister meets Cambodian and Thai Foreign Ministers in Beijing

On the sidelines of the 8th Me­kong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Beijing, People’s Re­public of China, U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, met Mr Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of For­eign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia on 7 December 2023 at the Diaoyutai State Guest House.

 

Both sides cordially ex­changed views and discussed a wide range of topics, including strengthening the longstanding friendship, expanding mutual­ly beneficial bilateral cooper­ation, particularly in tourism, religion and culture, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and rendering mutual support in regional and international arenas.

 

In addition, Myanmar’s Foreign Minister met Mr Parn­pree Bahiddha Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand on 7 December 2023 at China World Hotel in Beijing.

 

Both sides cordially ex­changed views on the further enhancement of existing cor­dial relations and bilateral cooperation. Also, they dis­cussed matters related to the maintenance of peace, stability and security along the border, promoting people-to-people contacts, the possibility of pro­viding bilateral humanitarian assistance for the people along the border, repatriation of Thai nationals stranded in Myan­mar’s north-eastern border ar­eas, promotion of legal rights and protection of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand as well as closer collaboration in both regional and multilat­eral arenas including ASEAN. — MNA
