THE National-Level Volunteer Steering Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment on COVID-19 presented certificates of honour, badges, facemasks and hand sanitizers to the volunteers and civil society organizations (CSOs) that are fighting against COVID-19 pandemic in Mon State yesterday.
A ceremony to present the certificates of honour was held at the Mawlamyine University’s 10-township Hall, which is open as quarantine centre.
Secretary of the Volunteer Steering Committee and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye was accompanied by Mon State Chief Minister Dr Aye Zan, the Social Affairs Minister, Social Welfare Department’s Deputy Director-General, and officials from Public Health and Medical Services Department and General Administration Department at the ceremony. The Union Minister and party presented the certificates of honour for 1,102 volunteers and 70 civil society organizations in Mon State to the State Chief Minister, and badges, facemasks and hand sanitizers to the volunteers and CSOs representatives.
The ministry also provided a total of K15.96 million, K30,000 per one, from its fund for the quarantine centre’s 300 pregnant women, 204 children under 5,20 elderly persons and one disabled person to an in-charge of the quarantine centre. The Chief Minister provided cash assistance for the quarantine centre’s volunteers who prepare foods.
The Social Affairs Minister gave children’s books on COVID-19 awareness to an official of the quarantine centre. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and party inspected the newly-opened Chaungzon Preschool in Chaungzon Township and discussed with the school’s officials to abide by COVID-19 health guidelines when preschools are reopening. The Union Minister gave K30,000 each to the pregnant women, children under 5, the elderly persons and the disabled, who returned from foreign countries and completed their quarantine periods in Chaungzon Town. They also visited Chaungzon Town’s Kyaik Mu Nine Pagoda and donated cash to the pagoda through the pagoda’s Board of Trustees. —MNA
