Nay Pyi Taw Christians celebrate Christmas with prayers, festive joy

Yesterday marks Christ­mas Day, a special occasion commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. Christians across Myanmar engage in prayers and expressions of gratitude in alignment with their respective Christian denominations. As night falls, vibrant lights adorn churches to enhance the festive atmosphere.

 

At St Michael’s Catholic Church in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, as well as in the Myanmar Baptist Church and various Christian congregations, the Christmas Day festivities commenced with joint prayers and praises yesterday morning. Bishops and revered leaders joined the Christian community in Bible readings, prayers, and thanksgiving, fostering fellow­ship and enjoyment.

 

Within the church premis­es, Christmas hymns resonate, contributing to the joyous cel­ebration. Reports indicate the execution of gift exchange pro­grams among congregants.
