Nearly 3,000 households in Kyaikmaraw Township submerged by floodwaters

Kyaikmaraw 7 August

Two villages were inundated by floodwaters as water level of the Attayan River continued to rise following severe rains in Kyaikmaraw Township, Mon State.

The flooding also caused some schools to close temporarily and some flood victims left their submerged houses to take shelter at temporary rescue camps, said a volunteer from the relief camp. Officials from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement supplied relief items to flood victims.

About 3,000 households that are adjacent to the Attayan River have been deluged with floodwaters, according to the initial news.—Cho Myat Myat Htwe
