N.Korea fires projectiles twice

10 September

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff says North Korea fired projectiles twice on Tuesday morning.

Military officials say the projectiles were launched from South Phyongan Province and flew eastward.

It is the eighth time since July 25 that North Korea has launched projectiles.

The South Korean military and the US military are collecting and analyzing information.

On Monday night, North Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui issued a statement, saying that Pyongyang is ready to have comprehensive discussions with the United States in late September.

The latest launch is viewed as an attempt by the North to showcase its missile technology and put pressure on the US government.
