No Coronavirus infections found in Yangon Region: MoHS

No novel coronavirus patient is found in Yangon Region, although Wuhan in China is facing the outbreak of the pneumonia and the Waibagi Hospital in North Okkalapa has already prepared for real time treatments should anyone is found contacted with the virus, according to Public Health Department office of Yangon Region.


We have no novel coronavirus patient in Yangon Region till now. We even have no one suspected of infecting with the virus. And if a novel coronavirus patient is found, Waibagi Hospital in North Okkalapa is ready to provide treatment, said Dr. Tun Myint, deputy director general of Public health Department.


Public Health Department has instructed private hospitals to inform it in real time if they found any novel coronavirus patient or any patient with suspected novel coronavirus.


The instruction includes the method of sending the information, the symptoms and particulars of the virus and the signs of a patient.


The Ministry of Health and Sport is carrying out preventive safety measure against novel coronavirus with added momentum at Yangon and Mandalay International Airports, sea ports, border crossings, especially the ones with the People’s Republic of China.


We have taken every safety measure at all the terminals of Yangon International Airport. We have arrangements for sending a suspected patient directly to the ambulance without passing though the public walkways. We have also arranged rests rooms for temporarily keeping a person if he is found with suspected novel coronavirus, said Dr. Tun Myint.


The Yangon Region of the Public Health Department will broaden its awareness campaigns on the novel coronavirus.


The daily flights of Wuhan-Yangon and Wuhan-Mandalay runs of China Eastern airways have been suspended to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in Myanmar, according to the Department of Aviation.


Depending on the type of the virus, the novel coronavirus cause can range from the common cold, illness and coofing to more severe diseases such as the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), kidney damage and even loss of life, said Dr. Khin Khin Gyi of Publid health Department.


Most of the novel coronavirus species spread among the animals, and human-to-human infection is rare. but certain types of the virus can cause people-to-people infection. mostly, health staff or families who are closely living with the patients are vulnerable to infection, she explained.


The Myanmar Embassy in Beijing has inform Myanmar citizens arriving in China for various reasons to strictly follow the preventive measures, and health instructions being issued by the country and to ask help from the embassy in case they find any difficulty. — Min Thit (MNA) (Translated by TMT)
