NSPNC meets seven NCA-signatory EAOs

A meeting between the Nation­al Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee and seven NCA-signatory Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) was held yesterday morning at the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Centre in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

 

The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, who is also Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peace­making Negotiation Committee, and members. Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) member Khun Okka, Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Chairman Saw Mra Raza Linn, KNU/KNLA Peace Council Vice-Chair Dr Naw Kapaw Htoo, Lahu Dem­ocratic Union (LDU) general secretary Kyar Ya Koke, Saw Kyaw Than Htay, head of the relations department of the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), New Mon State Party (NMSP) central commit­tee member Nai Bannyar Mon, representatives from the Res­toration Council of Shan State (RCSS) Central Committee member Nan Moe Moe Saw and Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) Deputy Liaison Officer Khun Tila.

 

National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Com­mittee Chairman Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and KNU/KNLA Peace Council Vice-Chair Dr Naw Kapaw Htoo gave a wel­coming speech at the meeting.

 

Then, they discussed the methods that should be used for the country’s stability, peace processes to be carried out in the future, humanitarian aid issues, and organizations’ opin­ions and suggestions regarding regional development issues.

 

Afterwards, Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) member Khun Okka and Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peace­making Negotiation Committee Lt- Gen Tun Tun Naung gave closing remarks and presented gifts to each other.

 

The interests of the ethnic people should be taken into consideration, and the armed conflicts that are currently oc­curring should be solved at the peace table. The attendees ex­pressed the same opinion that they urged the armed organi­zations in the conflict to protect civilians needing humanitarian assistance due to the conflict and to provide aid to them as soon as possible. — MNA/TS
