Officials inspect flooded wards in Chauk

THE township administrator and departmental officials on Monday went on an inspection tour of the flooded wards in the town of Chauk in Magway Region, after the rising of the water level of the Ayeyawady River.

During the inspection tour, the township administrator and officers inspected Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8, which are inundated by Ayeyawady river. The township administrator also provided suggestions to reduce the flooding and urged the public to call the emergency numbers of the township general administration, the township Fire Services Department, the central police station and the township health department when seeking help.

A total of 237 flood victims from 53 households from Ward 7 and 17 people from four households in ward 8 were evacuated to temporary relief camps or their relatives’ homes.—Kyaw Moe (IPRD) (Translated by Hay Mar)
