One dead, 19 people hurt in multiple traffic accident

One woman was killed and 19 others injured in a multiple head-on collision in Twantay Township, Yangon Region on 29 December, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.

         

A car driven by a man named Aung Ko Oo, 20, hit another car coming from an opposite direction and collided with a mini-truck while attempting to overtake a lorry. A woman was pronounced dead on the spot and 19 others were hurt in the incident. Among the injured people, one man identified as Lwin Moe, 25 was severely injured. All injured were sent to Yangon General Hospital.

         

The accident took place between mileposts 6 and 5 on the Twantay-Hlaingthayar Road near Tamangyi Village, Twantay Township at about 7 p.m. on 29 December. An investigation into the case is ongoing by the local police.—MOHA
