One dead, five injured as car crash in Natogyi Township

One man was killed and five others injured in a traffic accident on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region on Monday.

 

Members of the Highway Police Force from a nearby police station rushed to the scene of accident to assess the situation based on a tipoff. A car driven by a man named U Aung Myat Kyaw, 58 years of age from Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area with five people aboard crashed into a concrete median strip and flipped over near milepost 320 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway at about 10:30 p.m. on 31 December after the sleepy driver lost control of the car.

 

The driver died on the spot and five others were injured. The injured people were admitted to a public hospital in Natogyi. The driver has been charged with reckless driving by the highway police.—Kyaw Kyaw (Mahlaing)
