One dead, four injured, four missing in trawlergy accident

One person was killed and four people went missing after a trawlergy plunged into a creek in Lankhio Township, Shan State on 8 October, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.


The accident occurred between mileposts 29 and 29/5 on the Lankhio-Wanhat Road near Wantain Village at about 5:30 p.m. on 8 October. One woman died on the spot, four people sustained injuries and four people went missing in the incident. The deceased and injured people were sent to a nearby public hospital and a search operation for missing people is ongoing by local authorities.


The driver of trawlergy identified as Sai Ywat, 33 years old is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.
