One dead, one injured in incident at abandoned ruby mine

A man was killed and one other sustained injuries in an incident a ruby mining site in Mogok Township, Mandalay Region.
    

The incident occurred at an abandoned ruby mining site near Myayme Village on July 12. A 40-year old man identified as Ko Zaw Naing fell into a underground ruby tunnel, injuring another mine worker. The two victims were sent to a public hospital by an ambulance from a local social organization. Ko Zaw Naing was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital and another man named Ko Kyaw Min Khaing, 35, has broken his right leg, and is receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
    

Local firefighters, axillary firemen, volunteers from a local social group, members of the Myanmar Red Cross Society and residents were involved in the rescue operation.—Phyo Ma Ma (Mogok)
