One dead, three injured in traffic accident in Taungoo

One person was killed and three others injured in a traffic accident between a car and a mini-truck on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Taungoo Township, Bago Region on 22 July.

The accident occurred between mileposts 143/4 and 143/5 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Taungoo Township, Bago Region at about 11:30 a.m. on 22 July. A Probox car with five people aboard rear ended a mini-truck heading to the same direction while attempting to overtake it. One woman named Daw Ohn Kyi, 63 years old from Bilin Township, Mon State died on the spot and three others were hurt in the accident.

Out of the injured people, two people sustained severe injuries and were transferred to a public hospital in Taungoo. The motorist from the car is being questioned over reckless driving by the traffic police.—MOHA
