One killed, 6 injured after vehicle fells into channel in Gyobingauk

Gyobingauk, 7 January

         

One woman was killed and six people injured after a vehicle fell into a channel in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

         

A car carrying 27 Buddhist pilgrims was driven by a man named Zaw Lin Tun (alias) Zaw Tun, 40 and was on the way to Yangon from Pyay. The vehicle plunged into a 6 ft. deep conduit between mileposts 125/6 and 125/7 on the Yangon-Pyay Road near Kantaw Village, Gyobingauk Township at about 6:35 p.m. on 5 January after the driver lost control of the car.

         

A 18-year old woman died on the spot and six others –one man and five women—were hurt in the incident. The injured people were transferred to a nearby public hospital in Gyobingauk and a file is opened against the driver who is still at large by the local police.—MOHA
