Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe attended the online e-campus launching ceremony organized by ILO-ITC Myanmar via videoconferencing yesterday. During the ceremony, the Union Minister discussed the measures for labour affairs carried out by tripartite and establishing a bilingual Myanmar-English online platform to share knowledge about labour affairs during COVID-19 outbreak.
Although there are some weakness in management sector while using IT, the works are being carried out in a virtual way during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. The ILO also discussed with many stakeholders for ensuring positive outcomes for the employers, employees and government.
He then emphasized online e-campus for social affairs talks, international criteria, occupational safety and health issues and further information about the training to be added later.
The ministry also considers the priorities of ILO in selecting the materials for e-campus and other parties should do so for the facts which conform to the country’s priority sectors. He also discussed the training via an online platform, a valuable resource of the online platform after COVID-19 period and the vital role of successive learning about labour issues. The Union Minister also said the online platform is an opportunity to negotiate the long-term development for labour affairs and a central forum for government, employers and employees in addition to the National Tripartite Dialogue Forum convened in 2014.
Liaison Officer of ILO Myanmar Mr Donglin Li and Deputy Director for Japan’s Health, Labour and Social Welfare Mr Ken Fujii respectively made a remark. The ILO-ITC Director of Learning Mr Andreas Klemmer and Thai expert Mr John Richotte explained e-campus platform and other participants coordinated the meeting.
