Over 1000 villages in Magway Region to get access to electricity

National Electrification Project is being undertaken across the nation with the loans of World Bank and arrangements are being made to supply electricity to 1050 villages in Magway Region under NEP, according to Magway Region Electrical Engineer U Htaung Zo Kahing.


A total of 664 villages within two and three miles of national grid will get access to electricity under Phase-1 of NEP and out of which, 530 villages have access to electricity. Likewise, 386 villages within three and five miles of national grid will be supplied with electricity under Phase-2 of NEP and the projects of Phase-2 are being started and it will be completed within six month and nine month, according to the electrical engineer.


In Magway Region, over 35 percent have access to electricity until August, 2020 and the rate of access to electricity has increased by 48.52 percent until January, 2021, according to the record of Regional Electrical Engineer’s Office.
