Over 2,000 villages remain without electricity in Mandalay Region

Mandalay 8 January

A total of 2,100 villages out of 4,807 in Mandalay Region do not enjoy electricity yet, according to the Regional Department of Electricity and Energy.

Steps have been taken to distribute electricity to the remaining villages under the village electric supply project with the help of donors.

“Although the department is aimed to satisfy nationwide power demand in 2030, its target can be met before 2030 if the mission is carried out in a systematic manner” said an official from the department.

Power supply to the remaining villages will be undertaken with US$ 10 million out of $ 60 million, loans of World Bank.

Just as the project has much to do with the budget, the remaining village will be able to enjoy electricity next fiscal year.
