Over 300 Pakistan Int'l Airlines flights canceled in 10 days

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had over 300 flights canceled in the last 10 days due to the shortage of fuel and a financial crunch, a spokesperson of PIA said on Wednesday. The move forced the airline to cancel 322 flights, including 134 on international routes, since Oct 14.

The fuel shortage arose after the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) cut the fuel supply to PIA over unpaid dues, Abdullah Hafeez Khan, the spokesperson of the national carrier, told Xinhua.

A total of 51 flights were canceled on Tuesday alone, including 27 on domestic routes, said the spokesperson.

"We are in a crisis," Muhammad Aamir Memon, PIA's General Manager Brand, told Xinhua.
