Passenger bus catches fire in Bago, no casualties reported

No casualties were reported after a passenger bus bound for Yangon from Taunggyi caught fire on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw Expressway, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

 

The accident occurred between mileposts 33 and 33/1 on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw Expressway when a passenger bus with 32 people on board driven by a man named Sai Aung Htwe (alias) Sai Aung Thu from Nyaungphyu Ward in Taunggyi caught fire at about 3 p.m. on 13 March. The blaze was completely extinguished by firefighters by using two fire engines about 50 minutes later.

 

No one was injured in the fire but the vehicle was badly damaged and the driver is being questioned over the case by the local police.—MOHA
