Passenger bus catches fire in Mindon, no casualties reported

No casualties were reported after a passenger bus caught fire in Mindon Township, Magway Region on 29 September, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.


The accident took place between mileposts 227/2 and 227/3 on the Pathein-Monywa Road in Mindon Township at about 7:15 p.m. on 29 September. The passenger bus with 16 people on board driven by a man identified as Myo Win, 33 years old together with his coworker Naing Lin Aung, 19 years of age caught fire. The fire is attributed to have started from an electric wire shock of the vehicle’s dynamo.


No one was injured but the blaze destroyed the vehicle and some goods inside the car. The driver of the passenger bus is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.
