Passenger bus catches fire on Ygn-Mdy Expressway

No casualties were reported after a passenger bus caught fire on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in TadaU Township, Mandalay Region; the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.

The passenger bus driven by a man identified as Kyaw Thu, 33 years old from Amarapura Township caught fire due to its overheated braking system at around 3:50 p.m. on 4 March between mileposts 346/5 and 346/6 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. The passenger bus named “Shwe Lamin” was heading to Nay Pyi Taw from Mandalay with 42 people aboard.

The fire had ceased 30 minutes later but the passenger bus completely damaged by the flame. The passenger bus driver is being questioned over reckless driving and fire negligence by the Highway Police Force.—MOHA
