Plans underway to install pagoda digital directories at pagodas in Bago Region

Preparations for instal­lation of a Pagoda Digital Di­rectory at the pagodas of Bago Region were explained at the City Hall of Bago yesterday morning.

 

Firstly, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin clarified that offi­cials are developing a digital di­rectory of pagodas in Myanmar to enhance global awareness of the country’s cultural heritage. The directory will include in­formation on both famous and lesser-known pagodas from different regions and will be accessible via a website using modern technology. The De­partment of Archaeology and National Museum is collabo­rating with the Universities of Computer Studies in Pyay, Magway, Toungoo, and Thaton to launch the Pagoda Digital Directory Web Portal as soon as possible. This project will be progressively implemented for all the famous pagodas na­tionwide.

 

Subsequently, relevant officials provided detailed ex­planations of the project’s pro­gress, and the Union Minister addressed additional require­ments at the end of the briefing.

 

The briefing was also at­tended by Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, ministers of the Bago Region Government, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the Director-General of the Re­ligious Affairs Department, the Director-General of the Archae­ology and National Museum De­partment, departmental heads, rectors and faculty members from the Universities of Com­puter Studies in Toungoo and Pyay, pagoda board trustees, and other responsible persons.

 

Later, the Union minister donated K500,000 to the fund for overall renovation of the Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Addi­tionally, it was reported that the Union minister inspected the maintenance of the Kalyani ordination hall, maintenance of Leikpya Lake and Gaunghsay Mingala Lake dredged by King Dhammazedi in 1475 AD and 1476 AD respectively. — MNA/ TRKM
