Police confiscate raw jade stones in vehicle search

Different sizes of raw jade stones were seized from two motorists in a vehicle search in Indaw Township, Kachin State on Sunday morning.

 

Upon receiving information, an anti-crime squad led by Police Inspector Myo Min Aung stopped a mini-truck at Nabar junction on the Myitkyina-Shwebo Road at around 6 a.m. on 6 January. The vehicle was heading to Indaw from Mohnyin and was driven by a man identified as Nay Lin Tun, with his colleague named Zaw Min from Kyaukmyaung Town, Sagaing Region. Members of the anti-crime team discovered around 445.39 kilograms of illegal raw jade stones in the car.

 

The two men have been charged with transporting illegal raw jade stones under the Myanmar Gemstone Law by the local police station.—Ni Toe
